The Black Glove and the Peacock
Is a project that was produced following a residency at the Dunlop. I was invited by Amanada Cachia (Director and Chief Curatorurator of the Dunlop Art Gallery) to look mostly at their folk art collection and also other collections (public and private) to work on a new body of paintings inspired by the folk artists. The final exhibition intertwines my paintings and papers sculptures with the paintings and sculptures of the artists that strongly inspired me. A publication will come out shortly (August 2010).
Introduction Text

I am a white peacock
a black glove
an intimate war is taking place in my body
beauty is fighting hierarchy in all the trenches
blue and red the armies are marching in my veins
